thaumatrope

ooh... i really want to make a thaumatrope..... I cant remember what film it is when he is obsessively playing with one.... but my mangled memory has an image of someone spinning one in the back of a car.... anyway then are so adorable, in particular these old images i found to use on them.

I love that any image can be used, although birds seem to be the most popular there are also jockeys on horses, dogs looking at cats up trees... anything!

Tatoo's

I have been considering getting a tatoo for as long as i can remember but have always wimped out due to the 'its there forever' implications! also when i eventually do get married/am invited to the oscars/some other super glam event i dont want my outfit ruined by tatoos..... however, these lovely bird images are swaying me..... maybe across the ankle... or the bottom of my back....

The other side of the fair

As i mentioned.. fairgrounds can so easily become scary (is it only IT and the point horror books that have caused this!!? im sure some scooby doo ghosts originated in fairgrounds!)

obsession

I have a bit of an unhealthy obsession with all things fairground... candy floss, popcorn, rides...i think it is the bygone glamour, associations with the seaside (well brighton and blackpool!) and also the ease in which the images can become quite creepy...
so i thought i'd share a few of my favourite recent images...

Most can be found on fotodecadent but just msg me if you want credits as i have them all somewhere!!

H&M love

roll on autumn winter.. I am in love with this Hennes coat!

irini irini

I am going to channel this look for a job interview this week..... only without the checks... Fingers crossed!
I have a mens topman blazer... sleeves rolled up of course, all saints trousers, and a gap shirt...

Agnes B

Lovely french store agnes b are opening a new outlet at Spitalfields market, walking past the other day i noticed the shop signage but dont know when they will officially open. I may pick up this cute t shirt....

Office Press day

Shoes for A/W 08 seem to be pretty much the same as they are now to be honest! A bit of patent, some peep toe boots, shoe boots and brogues.....

despite that though i'd be happy to pick up any of these when they hit the stores....

Dazed

ooh - i must buy the new Dazed on the way home.. its looking FAB.

its a nice day, for a white wedding.

This shop,

Candy Anthony sells the most amazing ready to wear and couture prom and 50's style dresses. It is just behind the OXO tower, and while their prices are rather too steep for me I often drool at the window.

they have a website too - but a visit to the store is best to fully appreciate them!

Last Night...

So.. last night there was a glitering star studded event in Leicester Square and I was there!!! ....

No unfortuntely not the uber celebrity ridden premiere of Sex and the City ( I wish!) but more a Z-list bash over the road at Cafe de Paris where it was the LK today's High Street Fashion Awards... OOOOooooHHHhhh!!!!
now nobody really cares who won.. Topshop, New Look, Primark.. Blah Blah Blah!.
The best thing about the night was that Jason Donovan was playing! oh yes - my 80's heart throb (although unfortunately without Kylie). Unlike most come-back acts Jason didnt try to bore anyone with his new and wiser songs but happily sang songs from Joseph and the technicoloured dreamcoat and too many broken hearts,... swoon!

ooh - this should be interesting..

I want to ride my Bicycle....

OOh.... Frolic blogged today about Bobbin Bicyles and now i am in love...

I have wanted an old fashioned bike with a basket for ages and after many unsuccesful searches on ebay for 'old bikes!' had nearly given up but Bobbin Bicycles sell exactly what I am after..... now that the sun is out too I am inagining cycle rides down to Greenwich with a picnic.....

They are still quite expensive though (around £300) and i am tres worried about having it stolen while chained up somewhere... (do these bikes have that removable wheel thingy) also I would have to lug it up the many flights of stairs when i get home and either chain it outside my front door in put it in the living room.....

Practicalities aside though they are too lovely... (roll on next months pay cheque!)

Crush...

I love Natalia Vodianova, she always looks amazing.. Particularly here in these lovely pics by Carter Smith.....

Tuesdays child is full of grace...

last night derren brown was able to acurately guess many members of the audiences birth days.. I wonder if he used this poem to help...

Mondays child is fair of face,
Tuesdays child is full of grace,
Wednesdays child is full of woe,
Thursdays child has far to go,
Fridays child is loving and giving,
Saturdays child works hard for his living,
And the child that is born on the Sabbath dayIs bonny and blithe, and good and gay.

Drama... (not just on stage)

I went to the theatre last night to see Derren Brown, however i went with the ex-boyf so there was the inevitable cry and drama and I also had my phone stolen! great! I spent most of the night hoping it was a cruel Derren Brown trick and that at the end i'd be called up on stage and have my phone handed back to me... it didn't happen!

Anyway.... my main dissapointment from the evening is that people just dont dress up for the theatre any more. I wish that evening wear was still compulsorary and that everyone looked elegant... or at least that jeans and trainers weren't allowed... it would make the event so much more exciting (and considering that most theatre tickets are £50 its already not a chep night out!)

Mini Me.

Mini me…

I currently have an obsession with all things mini… (Actually I lie…. This is a long time obsession). When I was a child I used to write tiny mini notes to the tooth fairy and was entranced by an aunts mini pencil earrings that really wrote!

Just as the Japanese are ever shrinking technology, everyday items when shrunk are suddenly so desirable!

I don’t know if this is the childlike dollhouse attraction or a late blooming obsession with the borrowers but I suddenly want to hang knives and forks round my neck!!!

My favourites are…

helplessromantic, who make Small things cut out of Perspex (tatty devine style)

The French factory.. Absolutely irresistible mini bits (I want it all)

Etsy.com – soop – I love the layering effect that you can achieve with these rings…

Tilly bloom – beautiful illustrations made into broaches and necklaces, in a decoupage style.

J Davis studio also on etsy – beautiful mini silver monopoly houses and streets.

And of course.. mini mania… lovely. xx
